How to Create a Great Presentation for the Board Meeting

A well-crafted presentation for the board meeting is an essential tool in cultivating a constructive dialogue and gaining acceptance for your company’s projects and financial requirements. It’s a great way to show your leadership and knowledge to the board.

It is important to consider the purpose of your board presentation and be clear about what you intend to accomplish with it. You want to make the board members feel that they gained a lot of value out of your presentation. This could include a discussion about the successes and challenges from the last quarter or a summary of your goals for the upcoming quarter. It could also be brainstorming about current issues that hinder us from achieving our hairy, audacious goal.

It is important to know what you want from the board, in addition to knowing what your presentation will accomplish. The board is generally concerned with many things, including risk, long-term value, and how your plans are in line with the overall strategic direction of the company. If you discuss their concerns early in your presentation, and give them an idea of the issues that they face, they will be more likely to support your plans.

Practice your presentation many times before giving it before the board. This will make you more confident and avoid saying ‘um’ or fumbling over your words. It’s also an excellent idea to practice your presentation with other people and ask them for feedback.
